Since you already bought 2 individual memberships, you will have to activate each one. In the future, you should buy the family membership which is $35 for up to 5 people at once. Should save you $5.

I haven't try it, but assuming membership goes with account and each account can only link to one switch at a time, I would say you need to activate for each.

I would activate one for each, otherwise they will have to share 1 account. So in other words they wouldn’t be able to play online at the same time with only 1 membership active. There is a yearly family membership for $34.99 that allows up to 8 members.

Hi its one per Switch account. If they have their own switch you will need ine per switch. If the share one switch the only the main account will be able to save the game data to
 nintendo cloud and play online.
