It will only work in North America, but on the Switch you can make a USA account and redeem the code there

It depends on where you bought the switch. Browsing Online i noticed that some Codes "Can only be activated with the USA-Version of Nintendo Switch" or with the European version respectively. However, as the switch is generally not region locked, you can for example use the USA Nintendo Switch Version with a USA region based Code in an European WIfi or vice versa. Just don't buy the code in USA if you bought the Switch in Europe or the other way around. This might not work.

No. It only works on US Switch models. Unless you have an American Switch outside of the country, then no.
