You only need the online account for certain games. It is beat to just buy the online access. It is inexpensive and won’t have to worry about wether a game works or not with out the account.

No online is only used if you want to utilize the online features in games. The price is pretty cheap and they do allow you to play games from the nes and snes, you have to download the app for them to be played but for $20 a year it's the cheapest online service for the current generation.

no all games for nintendo switch can be played offline. only if you want to play with other players do u need it.
