I have been buying and manually downloading Norton for several years without an issue. The only catch to downloading Norton yourself is that you have to sign up for the auto renewal BUT you can delete the auto renewal option after you download the new version. If you keep the auto renewal on, then Yes. Norton will charge you ALOT more than what it costs to download this yourself. Once you cancel the auto renewal, they cannot charge you anything extra unless you choose to have their added protection services or don’t cancel.

Keep an eye on your subscription date, and cancel it before the auto-renew. Pain in the rear, I know, but the product really does work well. Its just been made super annoying by the Norton marketing department.
