I run mine from an ethernet cable. I have the Shield feeding into the Input of my Onkyo receiver and my LG smart TV connected to the TV out on the Onkyo.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You can connect to your network via either ethernet or wifi. Ethernet port is on one end, hdmi to the TV on the other end.

You can use either to connect to your network, though, obviously for hi-def streaming content your best performance will be with the Ethernet port. At the output end, the only connection to the TV is with an HDMI cord.
