• I have an old bluetooth keyboard that came with an old 10" RCA tablet. That keyboard connects immediately to the Shield and I use that many times when I can remember to charge it. Be aware that you can also install the Shield app on a tablet or phone and use the phone or tablet to type on the Shield.

• You can pair it to a Bluetooth keyboard, but it must Not use a custom dongle. There is no USB port for those. But Bluetooth is built in to the Shield
