I am running a 7.2.4 home theater. I have a full Reference Premiere Klipsch setup and the Onkyo recognizes each speaker and presets crossover frequencies automatically IF you want it to do so. Otherwise you can do each manually.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 9 in the description of (9.2) signifies 9 AMPLFIED channels. The .2 signifies the amount of subwoofer outputs (so 2 subwoofers). The only other amplified channels are Zone 2 and Zone 3 which are controlled separately and are 2 speakers each zone. It has the ability to output 2 more channels however they are UNAMPLIFIED and would need another external amplifier. So the question asks (how many speakers can I run?) the answer would be 9 for your main audience and two more sets for separate locations. A better question would be: can I run a 5.1.4 speaker setup with this receiver and the answer is yes Hope this helps
