I have no gap on mine. And I usually remove the head and clean it after use.

Please try again later.Been using mine for a month, no issues with cleaning or performance; just pull off the head and rinse it under running water (can run water down the stem or over the head, makes no difference). The handle can be rinsed the same way (the manual shows running water at the joint of the handle at a 45-degree angle so you don't want to immerse it). Running water over the charger is a no-no, manual states wiping with a damp cloth...as well wiping parts (I do this) and letting them air dry before reassembly (I don't do this). I use a charcoal toothpaste so it's pretty obvious where I need to clean my brush!
