• I think as long as it has some space around it, it is fine. I have mine on a shelf that is part of my cabinetry . The back of the oven has a metal piece that protrudes and prevents the body from resting against the back wall,thus giving it vent space. I used it a lot during the holiday. Was awesome.

• This fantastic microwave doesn't need venting. I have my sitting over my stove on a stove stand no issues. I've had several microwaves in the past and this is by far the best I have ever owned.
