“How do I connect the HC-VX870K to my Windows laptop (HP Envy x360) to be used as a webcam? What cables do I need? Which inputs/outputs do I use? Do I need special software? Also, same questions for using it as webcam with an older MacBook Pro (2013/2014).”

• You will need an adapter of some sort, basically a video switcher. You could use the Aja Utap or something similar. We’re getting an ATEM Mini. Be aware that adapters of this sort are extremely hard to come by right now, as multiple industries are trying to purchase them. The ATEM I ordered is on backorder for a month.
