Hi John! Thank you for your interest in our phone system. To set it up, you need to connect the AC adaptor to the unit by pressing the plug firmly. Then, fasten the cord by hooking it and connect the AC adaptor to the power outlet. The next step is to connect the telephone line cord to the unit and then to the single-line telephone jack until you hear a click. A DSL/ADSL filter, which is not supplied, is required if you have a DSL/ADSL service. Please ensure you use only the supplied Panasonic AC adaptor PNLV226. Hope this helps! -C
