You can find other Panasonic models that are only sold with three handsets (the base handset plus two extras OR 4 total handsets with the base plus 3 extras depending on if you meant 3 total or 3 separate handsets apart from the main one at the base.) If you are set on this exact model, you could always purchase the 5-handset model and just store two of the extras in case you ever decide you need rhem.
