This model seems odd to me compared to my previous Panasonic phone set from ~10 years ago (just replaced). I believe it's this: Menu | Answering Device | Answer Off If you have another vmail destination (e.g., a VOIP provider) you can also set the Ring Count higher than the provider's (my provider is set to 4 so I have this set to 7).

However, you may also have voicemail service from your phone service provider. Voicemail is an answering service that may be offered by your phone service provider. This service can also record calls when you are unavailable to answer the phone or when your line is busy. Messages are recorded on the phone company system and not on the unit’s answering system. If you want to turn this service off, please contact the phone service provider. -C
