“Can this player play dts:x audio from an external HDD?”

• It depends on the movie you download if its decoded to 7.1 or 5.1 or dolby atmos. Better check the file first. DTS xs yes it can send signal to your reciever .

• Depends on the file system. I tried connecting my phone thru usb but no go. For apple devices I believe those are recognized.
