Yes. You can use the app to turn it on/off. You can also use Alex or Google to turn on/off too. I use the Hue high hat with the Hue motion sensor. When someone walks in the room the hue motion sensor turns on the Hue high hats.

Yea, the Philips hue app and the SmartThings app are the ones I use to control my lights.
