• Yes. I ended up bypassing the switch and covering it with a blank because my wife kept turning it off at the switch.

• That is correct. I have some connected to switched fixtures and the bulbs lose power and thus connectivity with the network when the switch is off. Best to install a switch cover so the switch always stats on. I paired my lights with a motion sensor and set it up to turn the lights on when I walk into the room.

• Yes, they use power, but it is very little power. You will still be ahead using hue lights. They use like 1 watt when they are off and about 5 watts when on.
