Yes. These bulbs are great in recessed lights. Just make sure they don't extend down too far (see dimensions).

Yes. My father has the BR30s (floodlight style) in his high hats and has never had an issue. I can run mine for hours and take the bulb out with my bare hand pretty easily. They don't get very hot.. if that's your question?
