• No, you need to buy the Hue Bridge and then you can control with Alexa or Siri.

• I have a couple Amazon Echo show's and I jsut pluged it in and asked Alexa to turn on and off. NO APP. It is also possible to adjut the brightness by asking to trun on to say 50% or whatever you like.

• An app as in the Alexa app? I would think so. But when I think about it. Maybe it needs some sort of product that has Zigbee in it. That tech that’s used to control smart home devices. But I could definitely be wrong.
