no is does not work with a dimmer, it has it's own dimming program, you want to make sure it has full power to the unit or it will flicker.

You do not want to hook this up to a dimmer switch. These bulbs are intended to have constant power to them. So basically they don't want you turning the light switch off. I suggest hardwiring your light to have constant power and then putting a Lutron LZL-4B-WH-L01 Connected Bulb Remote (Videos on youtube how to link to hue bulbs) in place of your switch.

I'm sorry to say I'm not sure. bought as a group gift. I'm pretty sure you need a special adapter. I've seen prices of around 25.00
