The Hue extension must be connected to a Hue base strip (which has an adapter for 120 V AC wall power). This extension can either be plugged into the base strip directly, or with a Litecessory extension cord (useful for going around the corner on kitchen cabinets). Note that this Hue extension is version 4.0 (Bluetooth) and is *NOT* compatible with version 3.0 (non-Bluetooth).

It does not need batteries. It connects to/extends a "Philips - Hue White and Color Ambiance Lightstrip Plus 2m Base Kit with Bluetooth".
