“I have other Phillips Hue lights and love them. These lights are dimmable, I get that part. But can they be used as lights that are wired to a dimmer switch? Others are not compatible with the dimmer switch itself.”

No, All Smart Bulbs need a constant source of power. You dim them through their app or by voice command with one of the smart home devices like Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa. Not a dimmer switch on the wall.
