It didn't come with any disc, driver, software, etc. Windows 8. 8.1, and 10 all recognized it and installed the driver automatically. Ran fine. However, this drive is focused on Macs. The best similar drive for a Wndows machine is the Pioneer Slim External Blu Ray Writer BDR-XD05B (Black) -- and it comes with the Cyberlink Media Suite, so you can play DVDs and Blu Ray discs. If you buy this drive, you will have to buy software to play anything.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It worked out the box for my Macs, and I do not recall if it came with a CD-ROM with firmware, but you download a Windows Driver utility from Pioneer's site. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Portable/Computer+Drives/BDR-XD05S
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It works fine on Windows 10 without additional drivers, so should be OK on 8 and 8.1. If not the drivers can be downloaded and installed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No this does not come with its own driver, you have to download it from pioneer's Web site, and may take a few install for it to work,. You also have to purchase a separate blueray program from idk where.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Windows 8.1 recognizes it as a blu-ray player, however, you still need to purchase software to play blu-rays.
