There are limits to the crossover settings. However I used the DIRAC software included (huge bonus!) and am satisfied with the results. Running all Martin Logan speakers except 4 Klipsch SA500's for height. I am running an external amp for the front (left, right and center). You can add amps for all channels. Check the specs for 8K. Page 207 of the manual. There are 6 inputs but I haven't tested as I have no 8k equipment. Proper cables are required. No software update needed as these are ready to go. You can update software but mine came current and fully functional.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, crossover is universal across all “small” speakers. You can connect it to as many pre outs as you wish. The receiver doesn’t stop sending a sound signal to the speaker outputs when you plug into a pre out. There are 3 separate ”full bandwidth” 40 Gbps HDMI 2.1 inputs, and 3 more 24 Gbps HDMI 2.1 inputs on the back of the receiver, in addition to another HDMI 2.0 on the front. All 6 HDMI 2.1 ports can handle an 8K resolution, however only the first 3 can handle 60 fps uncompressed, while the other 3 can either handle 8K/60 compressed to 4:2:0, or 8K/24 uncompressed to 4:4:4. The front input cannot support 8K.

And I believe 100 hearts, older models tend to give you more leeway and flexibility with the crossovers.. but using the pre-outs, which all these receivers come with, you can connect external amplification. Which is only needed for power-hungry speakers for example, definitive, technologies are extremely easy to drive because of their built-in subwoofers
