Yes! I have done exactly that on my Jeep. I mounted the camera to my spare tire, ran the wire into a grommet in my tailgate, ran wires along factory wires from tailgate to right rear fender then under rollbar padding to the front A-pillar then down to dash. Connections are simple. Plug the RCA cable to the brown input on the back of your stereo. Ground the black wire. Connect red wire to a power source. If you connect the violet/white wire coming out of yourAVH-1500 to a wire that powers your reverse lights, the screen will automatically switch to the back-up camera when you put the Jeep in reverse.
