Yes, all storage devices are universal for Mac and PC. If Mac needs to format it differently it will. Don't get suckered into the extra "Made for Mac" for storage.

It should have a USB 3.0 port if its a 2012 or later mac. Check your laptop (Apple Icon/About this Mac/Support/Mac Resources/Specifications).
