Hello, It might work, but in many cases with iMac computers you must use the exact specification Apple calls for and I would highly suggest it in order to avoid compatibility issues. You should purchase PC3-8500 1066MHz only for this machine to ensure compatibility. PNY Brand Champion

Just make sure you don't buy more memory than your computer can handle! It is never a bad idea to ask the Geek Squad people, either. They almost always have someone available at their counter in Best Buy. Last, but not least, there are several online websites that you can check for compatibility. Just type in the size you want and type of computer.
