You don't mention what you have in your machine now. I installed this in an HP with an i7-4700 and found immediate improvement.

The potential bottleneck would be with the games being played and not relative to the processor. This board should be good for most games but not necessarily for high FPS when playing highly demanding games. My recommendation is to check for reviews of this graphics card online to find out how games you want to play perform on this card. For my purposes, this was a great choice.
