• It won't work as a HRM without the strap. Though you can use just the strap to get a heart rate on machines that can sync with Polar. Won't be able to get the other info without the watch.

• The chest strap contains the sensor, so will not work without it.

• No, you must wear the chest strap but it is surprisingly comfortable!
