Is this a 3.1 system null

No the center channel isnt independent. Its more of a voice enhancement channel.

Given the ability to turn up the dialogue produced by the center channel, I would say yes.

The Polk sound bar I purchased from The Frederick, MD., Best Buy is awesome and glad I treated myself to my own birthday present. What a difference in the sound quality along with the purchase of two new flat screen TV's also from Best Buy. I had the Geek Squad install everything and they did a very professional job. I will be going back to Best Buy soon for another larger TV for our new home and I will have The Geek Squad install this one with the purchase of another Polk Sound Bar.
