Here are some measurements you may find helpful to answer your question:

The step-up height on this elliptical is 7 inches.
Stride length is 5 inches (10 inches vertical).
Measuring from the foot rest (at lowest position) to the heart monitor handles is approximately 46 inches (3’10”).
From foot rest (at lowest position) to dual action handle bar when forward is approximately 53 inches (4’5”).

Being 5 inches tall would be a big problem, even to reach the step-up height. :) However, we believe you mean 5 feet tall, and at that height you should have no trouble reaching these handlebars.

DO NOT buy this. We have had our less than a month and it broke already... My wife has used it 4 times and it broke. Very poor quality.
