They were not clear in the manual. It is on the side but hard to find. You have to lift a little door to insert the jumper posts. I showed it to my Allstate guy and he showed me after it took him a few minutes too. Yes, I charged mine first. I do not think it comes charged.

Please try again later.English, First, connect the jumper cables, then connect them to the battery, first the black cable to the negative terminal and then the red cable to the positive terminal. It doesn't matter if you connect the wrong way around; the device has a safety system, so nothing will happen. Then start the car, disconnect the jumper cables, and you're good to go!
