“Is there supposed to be a CD or just a piece of paper with a code on it? Not sure why it came in a box inside a huge padded envelope when they coulda just emailed the code. Odd to unwrap and find nothing.”

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.They stopped sending CDs about the time laptops stopped coming with optical drives. I'm sure lot's of customers are just more comfortable with the traditional packaging.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The box is for marketing only. Most companies are doing away with the CD disc for two reasons, cost and control. Like the operating system on your computer, it's leased and controlled by a password code. The password code allows the user to download the software from the company sever and can only be used on one computer system. Software like quicken and many others are also leased for one year only and must be renewed if the consumer want to continue to use the software. Key word- leased not owned.
