Yes, 2 friends got the prescription and sent them in with the glasses they picked out from the store. It took a couple of weeks to mail back.

You can but it's pretty restricted. If you don't want to void the warranty you have to go to Lenscrafters and you can't have a prescription stronger than +-6, although some say +-4. It depends on the model of the glasses.
