Im not quite sure what you mean by “alone” but if you mean without cable, the answer is yes. The newer digital tv’s are easily set up with this item. Just hook it up and run your tv through set up for antenna and it will search for channels and wahla...

Hi, I used it alone with no internet. It brought in the local channels nice and clear on my TV. As long as I keep it in the window. When I am not using sometimes I pull it down, some channels still come in even when not in the window, but comes in best in the window. I get about 12 channels if not more. Very happy with it.
