Free or open channels are based on your location. If you live close to a city, you will get a lot more free channels than if you lived in a suburban area.

Please try again later.placement is key, I placed it flat under my Mac Monitor and received only 5 channels, when I moved it a couple of feet to a window sill and rescanned for channels I achieved 35! We have aluminum siding and I think it blocks signal, so I'm thinking signal passes through windows thus moving it to a window sill might help, it helped me.
