It does reference past lore (like Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil Outbreak), but it is not a retelling of any previous game. Resident Evil Requiem takes place 30 years after the destruction of Raccoon City, which canonically occurred in 1998 during the events of Resident Evil 2 and 3. That places Requiem’s story around 2028–2029, making it the furthest-forward mainline entry before the “Shadows of Rose” DLC (2037).
