short answer (Yes) the device will send an alert if it’s tampered in any way.
If window or door was opened, or tampered. But you need to set up your alerts and when installing you will identify each device by naming it. (Office door, bathroom window, etc)

No, These sensors detect the motion of the door or window opening. They use a magnet and a magnet sensor that are aligned when shut. Opening the window or door breaks this alignment and triggers the sensor.
