You have options. There are a few choices or options available with Ring monitoring service. You can pay monthly, annually or no Fee with self monitoring. The fees aren't overwhelming and I signed up for the Ring and local PD monitoring along with Ring maintenance

Yes, I pay $20 a month for over 10 sensors, 2 door bell cameras, and 2 floodlights. It’s actually a good deal compared to most security companies.
