Yes you can easily replace the Ring with what is there! And yes it does need 24/7 power so a light switch needs to be always on.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, we replaced one of our floodlights with a Ring Floodlight cam. It has power 24/7 but doesn't go on unless it's triggered by motion. Our other floodlights are on timers, so they have power 24/7 and turn on and off at designated times or when they are triggered by motion. Hope that helps!
