Hi Mel, Thanks for reaching out. In order to support its robust array of features, Floodlight Cam needs to be hardwired into a standard junction box. Additionally, Floodlight Cam is only compatible with 2.4 GHz frequencies. Because your Floodlight Cam will be mounted outside and far away from your router, this wider range will help eliminate interference and ensure that your Floodlight Cam always performs at its best. If I can assist you any further please feel free to email me at [email protected]. Kaitlyn R., Neighbor Satisfaction Specialist [email protected]
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The floodlight runs on wifi signal. You cannot hard wire. I had a weak signal, but added an access point to where the floodlight was being installed. I ran a CAT 5 wire under the house and connected it from one end (Sprectrum router) to the access point in garage. Need to set up following the directions. This basically extended the wifi signal. I use Spectrum wifi. I have heard that this product can run at a minimum wifi strength of 2.4 GHZ. Spectrum has this as their minimum for distance and 5 GHZ for close range.
