If someone unplugs the camera, it will lose power and shut down. I would not plug it outside, since it would be easy for Gremlins to just unplug it and do whatever without being seen. So I had a brick removed and ran the plug through it. Then I had the brick replaced. It is awesome to have some eyes on things when you are not around or just witness what I did not see.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.This device does not have a battery backup. If it is unplugged, it is no longer connected or recording. The upside is that the camera should have captured any motion prior to being unplugged and that is stored in the Ring cloud and would be available for viewing.
