Hi Mike. Thank you for your question today! The Ring Stick Up Cam Elite has a motion detection field of view of 150 degrees horizontal by 85 degrees vertical. For the best results, Ring cameras typically work best when mounted approximately 8 to 10 feet off the ground. A third story window installation would be significantly higher than this recommendation, which may affect motion detection performance.
