For me I'm about to get it about 50 feet away from my wireless router and able to use 5 Ghz instead of 2.4 Ghz. I think some of this will depend on your wireless router / AP system. Overall I'm very happy with the camera.

The motion detection on powered Ring devices can “see” about 30 ft away from the camera.

Unless you already have outdoor lighting and the ideal camera doesn’t need to see very far, I’d recommend the flood light camera.
