You can put it anywhere you want to monitor. You make 4 holes on the mounting surface, but you can remove it and take it with you. You just have to deal with the holes.

I would ask the management first but you can use it on just about any entry. easy to install easy to remove . Just save the old button

You can absolutely take your Ring Video Doorbell with you when you move. 
To do this, you will just need to undo the security screws.
