• Hi Zep, The Ring Video Doorbell connects to existing doorbell wiring or runs off the built-in rechargeable battery. When connecting to an existing doorbell, keep in mind Ring Doorbell is compatible with most mechanical or digital doorbell kits that use transformers between 8 and 24 volts AC. • Yes, we did. You don't have to but if you wire it in you won't have to take it down and recharge it.

• Yes. The transformer has to be strong enough to charge it though. Mine is 16 volts.
