I have had a Ring 2 for a couple years sitting directly in the AZ hot sun. No degradation whatsoever. Maybe I am lucky, but, it is pretty sturdy. I recently installed a solar panel for the Ring 2 since it gets sun all the time. Solar panel is working great and no need to swap batteries anymore.
