Great question. Yes, a compatible mobile device is required for setting up Ring devices. The Ring app requires iOS 15 (or higher) or Android 9 (or higher). If your mobile device does not have the latest operating system, the Ring app may not work as expected, or you may not be able to access the Ring app.
