When I researched it for myself before I bought the Ring basic model I found that Ring2 has a higher picture resolution 1081, but the basic gives a clear enough picture for me, so why spend $100 more was my motto. Be sure you hardwire it vs having to change batteries. Hardwiring is easy...turn off braker to doorbell, detach its 2 wires, reattach to Ring (doesn't matter which way you attach wires).
