“Besides video, does the unit also ring like a regular doorbell? Is the unit lighted to be seen at night? I live where it gets colder than - 5 degrees. If I choose an option where the unit is wired directly into the old doorbell wiring do I have to worry”

Mine works fine and it's been as cold as -20. These can be hard wired , mine are

The tempature question I live in the SE & when temp gets chilly the battery starts to drain, even though I have the unit hardwired. As soon as the day begins to warm it recharges rapidly. I've never experienced below 32° but it is a known issue.
