You will need to leave the router on while on vacation to allow the Ring product to notify you if someone comes to the door. Insure that your router requires a password for security.

I keep a couple of ice packs near my router in the summer to keep it cool. I think it may be time for me to upgrade to a new router/modem The nice thing is that you can answer your door when you are not home with the wifi on.

By hooking up to your Wi-Fi, Ring products use the free Ring app to alert you whenever someone approaches your door. If you turn off the wifi in your home, your Ring device will disconnect.
